I really think people in the South have a special type of love for their flowers.  Certain types of flowers, for me at least, are rooted in strong tradition of family and gatherings.  My grandmother had the largest hydrangea bush outside her back yard and I remember taking the large bloom and plucking off the tiny petals, piece by piece.  My mom had gardenias in her home and taught me not to touch the petals when I went out to pick them, as the petals would brown much faster.  I loved working on each piece in this collection!  These flowers were completed in May of 2015.
